RFastP Note:
I've been out of town for much of this season and have not seen many Rochester
Area games. In the past I have heard local people say "Well that's just
a Junior College team"..."Anybody can win that level"
Well
that's Bull!......I've been involved with various sports for over 25 years,
whatever level you're playing, townball, recreation ball, High School, Junior
College or College ball, Amateur or Professional Sports....You are playing
against teams and players of equal ranking.
You may have a couple players that are better then average...but you
also probably have some players below average. You are playing
against teams fairly equal to your own teams ability
When you win, you are winning against teams of your class, and you are 'The
Champions'
If
the New York Yankees played and beat the Churchville
Chili Varsity Baseball team...that wouldn't be a very proud event...That would
be two teams playing totally out of their class
My daughter plays D-1 softball, I saw many of her games and other D-1 teams
play this season........The MCC team could have held their own against many
of the D-1 teams I've seen the last few years.
They could have beat several of the D-1 teams I've watched.
In the past many of the junior college girls on Coach Rob's teams have gone
on to play at 4 year colleges....some even getting scholarship
funds for softball.
For Rob DiGiacomo and his coaches to take a group of local girls...who are also attending college and responsible for classes and grades....to the NJCAA playoffs several years in a row and Win the Last Three National Titles....well that's something!
Hats
off to Rob, Paul and Chuck and the entire MCC Women's Fastpitch Softball Team....What
A Group!
To win once would be something ...but 3 times....It may never be
done again in any sport.......

Brockport Raptors: From Glenn Emerson
I coordinate the Monday / Wednesday 17-under town ball fast pitch program
in John Masco's league. It's called NASF/Pony, was started years ago by Curt
Haas /Gary Zastrow.
My team is the Brockport Raptors:www.eteamz.com/brockportraptors
We focus primarily on the Modified to young JV age group, especially
offering Modified level players their first exposure to base stealing, bunting
and other facets typically denied to the younger girls in town and rec level
programs.
We also get a fair share of high school players looking to play summer ball
and have fun

Frozen Ropes Fall II Schedule, New HS Player Programs...and
Fun Camps too!
Dear Friends of Frozen Ropes,
Though the leaves are beginning to turn, it’s already time to start thinking about next Spring and the upcoming season. Training doesn’t stop when the season is over; rather, the best time to get ready for the next season is the off-season. Today’s athletes stay in shape all year round. Hall of Famer Cal Ripken was known for spending three hours a day, five to six days a week in the winter to not only maintain but improve his skills. Ripken said, “When I go to spring training, I’m in the best shape I’ll be in all year.” At Frozen Ropes our commitment is to help our players, regardless of their age or skill level, to become the very best ballplayers they can be. The commitment starts with the player but Frozen Ropes is here to take each player as far as he or she wants to go. Make a commitment for 2007 by signing up for Frozen Ropes’ classes and lessons today.
Inside the latest "On Deck" Newsletter you'll find all kinds of great baseball and softball related info...Along with the upcoming Fall II Schedule, there is information on the NEW Player Development Program (PDP), the full '06-07 'Ropes Schedule as well as many other informative articles, including an interview with Spencerport Varsity Baseball Coach, Craig Bodensteiner.

JOSIE'S READY TO
HIT A HOME RUN - AT WHAT AGE SHOULD THEY
START?
Even at
3,4 or 5 years old, you can pitch a wiffle
ball to them and see if they can hit or
catch. If anything, it would increase
hand/eye coordination and help in later
years in any sport. I think a lot of people
would be surprised to see how well a 4
or 5 year old can hit a wiffle ball with
a plastic bat with only a couple days
practice. In a few days they start
adjusting and start to clobber the ball
over your head.
LONG-TERM GOALS:
1. Get more girls of all ages involved in fastpitch softball.
2. If
a local fastpitch association can be formed
and can organize leagues, games and tournaments
in a seven-county area, or the Section
V area, there would be an organization
to start in motion a master plan to build
a centrally located softball complex where
local leagues, sectional games, tournaments,
etc. could be played. This would end the
need to beg for fields, pay for fields,
or kiss someones bu-- to get the use of
a diamond for a few hours.
The more people who get involved, the
easier it would be to build something
like this. Both Buffalo and Syracuse have
complexes built with public funding which
are strictly for fastpitch softball!
3. Keep girls involved at all ages. Buffalo
has an open league with no age limit.
Females of all ages, from young girls
to women who have graduated from college
and have children of their own, still
play in fastpitch leagues.
With Title IX and all the money spent on men's sports facilities in our area, it it is not that far-fetched to believe that a local complex could be built.
