Ask a bunch of people what they thought were the top ten memorable moments in Section V during the 2002 season? Here's the results:

TOP 10 MOMENTS IN SECTION V SOFTBALL
FOR THE 2002 SEASON

1. Jenny Lesczinski from West Irondequoit getting 24 consecutive wins as a pitcher and breaking the single season strikeout record.

2. West Irondequoit going 24-0 for the regular season.

3. Wayland-Cohocton winning the Class B championship and going all the way to the state final game behind Heidi Brooks' pitching.

4. The Weather. The rain and snow started in March and didn't stop until May. Many teams didn't get on the field to practice until after their first divisional games started.

5. Aquinas coming from behind and winning the Class BB championship behind Sara Burke's pitching.

6. Webster winning the Class A championship for the second year in a row.

7. Moving the sectional semis and finals to Brockport's high school and college fields.

8. Pembroke winning Class C and going all the way to the state final game.

9. Alfred-Almond winning Class D and going all the way to the state semis.

10. Churchville-Chili facing Webster in a semifinal game that was better played than most final contests. Also, Spencerport upsetting Irondequoit in semi's.

Where can I buy equipment?

Again, we repeat, if your daughter is just starting out in this sport, don't go out and buy a $150 bat or a $125 glove. (see: Softball / game)

Dicks, Dunhams, Play It Again Sports.
Dicks & Dunhams have good selections of softball equipment in March and April but once the summer season arrives their stock often dwindles and they won't necessarily restock what you need when you need it.
Play It Again Sports sells new and used equipment at fair prices but to walk in at any time and find just what you need may not happen.
Galyans:
Wal-mart & Kmart at certain times have excellent equipment at pretty good prices.
